Let’s get your first block working on your Mac. You’ll need macOS 14 or newer. The first seven days are free, with no account or card.

## 1\. Make yourself at home

[Download Blocker](https://getblocker.app/download) , open the download, and drag the app into Applications. Open Blocker and follow the welcome steps.

This is the Now tab. Click Block now to set up your first session.

## 2\. Pick one distraction

Click **Create your first blocklist** and give it a name, like “My first block”. Type **youtube.com** in the website field, click **Add**, then **Save list**. You can choose a distracting app in the **Apps** tab too. One distraction is plenty to start with.

Your site appears below the website field once you’ve added it. Save list takes you back to your session.

## 3\. Start your first hour

Your new list is selected for you. Click **1h**, the shortest preset. Leave the lock mode on **Relaxed** for this first try. Save any work in apps you’re blocking, then click **Block now**.

Choose 1h, check your list and Relaxed mode, then click Block now.

Try opening the site or app you chose. It should be blocked, while your work tools stay available. Your first focus session is underway.
