How to block websites on a schedule on Mac

To block websites on a schedule on Mac, create a Blocker blocklist, add a schedule with that list, select the days and start/end times, then choose its lock mode. The same list covers your browsers and any Mac apps you added.

For example, a Monday-to-Friday block from 09:00 to 11:00 can protect the first part of a workday. Those hours are a suggestion to adapt to your local routine.

Test your list before making it recurring

Install Blocker and choose the domains and apps you want unavailable during the work window. Adding a domain includes its subdomains. A blocked domain also covers work pages on that domain, so keep your required tools out of the list.

Use Block Now for a short Off-mode session first. Check your everyday browsers and work apps. You can use the deep-work setup as a starting point.

Create one weekly work window

  1. Add a new schedule in Blocker and give it a name you will recognise.
  2. Select the blocklist you just tested.
  3. Select your work days, such as Monday through Friday, and set the start and end time, such as 09:00–11:00.
  4. Choose Off for the first run, save the schedule and leave it enabled.
  5. Check your Mac’s current date and time, especially if you are travelling or have changed time zones.

Check one active window

During the scheduled hours, open one listed website and one listed app. Then check that your required work tools remain usable. Check again after the end time so you know how the routine behaves on your own Mac.

If the block is not active, check the schedule’s enabled state, selected days, time range and blocklist. For a problem you cannot reproduce with a short session, send support the Blocker version and the behaviour you observed.

Choose the commitment after the test

Off gives you an exit after a short wait. Strict adds more friction. Hardcore holds until the block ends, with one weekly emergency pass. Read the lock-mode guide before using a more restrictive mode for recurring hours.

If your work hours move around, Block Now may fit better than a weekly schedule. If you want a built-in Mac restriction, Screen Time’s Downtime offers a schedule for time away from the screen. Check whether its allowlist model fits your needs.
