Deep work on your Mac

Finish one piece of work before checking another feed. Start with a 60-minute session and this list, then change it to fit your task.

Add this setup in one step

Blocker shows the sites and apps before it adds the list. You can edit the list, and Blocker does not start a block.

Needs Blocker 1.5.0 or newer. No Blocker yet? Download

Open in Blocker

Choose what belongs on your list

The setup also suggests these Mac apps: Discord, WhatsApp. Blocker adds only the apps that are on your Mac. Remove an app from the list if you need it for this task.

Keep your editor, research sources and required team communication available. Leave YouTube out if a tutorial is part of the task.

Your first session

  1. Select Open in Blocker. Blocker shows the sites and apps before it adds the list.
  2. Add the list. You can change its sites and apps at any time in the app. You can also add the weekly schedule. This option is off by default and uses Relaxed mode.
  3. Save your work in those apps. Then open Block now, choose 60 minutes and select the mode that fits your task. Strict adds a wait and a sentence before you can stop early.

Read about Hardcore before choosing it: it has one weekly emergency pass. No setup on this site enables a mode automatically.

Keep the routine realistic

Try an hour first. If it fits your work, schedule Monday to Friday, 09:00–11:00, in your local time.

The step-by-step blocking guide explains how to check the result. Your Mac blocklist and schedules stay local. This setup does not sync to other devices or block your phone.
